RSL parts ways with 4 players

Real Salt Lake confirmed that it has officially parted way with Rachid El Khalifi, Abe Thompson, Justin Davis and Kris Banghart as the team nears the midway point of its preseason.

El Khalifi was the lone holdover from last year’s championship team, but the team couldn’t make keeping him around work under the current salary cap. Abe Thompson was a player the team picked up off of waivers at the end of last year, but the coaching staff just didn’t see the progress they were hoping for during two weeks in Arizona.

Davis and Banghart were rookies who the team selected in the MLS SuperDraft.
