RSL expects big crowd

In a perfect world for Real Salt Lake, its playoff game this Saturday against Columbus wouldn’t be competing against Halloween and a University of Utah football home game. Nonetheless, RSL general manager Garth Lagerwey doesn’t seem too concerned.

“It’s not a big game for Utah, it’s a huge game for us. Of the crossover, and I don’t know how big the crossover is, I think we get a lot of them coming to our game. We certainly hope so,” he said.

“If I had to choose between a playoff game and Wyoming, no disrespect to the locals, I would choose a playoff game. This is a last chance for any of our fans to see us this year, our fans have been awesome all year. I honestly think we’re going to get supported, they’ve turned out consistently. I think we wound up fourth or fifth in the league in terms of best crowd, and if you look at our market size that’s amazing,” said Lagerwey.

RSL’s GM encouraged families to bring their kids to the game in their Halloween costumes for the various Trick-or-Treating festivities the team has organized.

Real Salt Lake’s playoff game is scheduled to kick off shortly after 4 p.m., whereas the Utah game begins at 6 p.m.
