Real Salt Lake’s under-18 team earned another draw at the U-18 Club World Cup on Wednesday in Madrid, this time drawing Espanyol of Spain 3-3. The result comes on the heels of its 1-1 draw with Partizan Belgrade on Monday.
The tie puts RSL in good position to become the first MLS youth team to advance out of group play with a victory this Friday against Rayo Vallecano of Spain. The Spanish team is a last-minute replacement for River Plate which had to back out of the tournament at the last minute.
RSL scored all three of its goals Wednesday after halftime, with Adrian Saldana netting two and Danny Mwanga the other. Highland High School standout James Rogers recorded two assists.
