Well, five ties in nine matches last week was a disaster for my picks. But, the great thing about MLS is there’s always another week of picks over the horizon, literally. There are still 20 weeks of picks to be made, plenty of time to boost my overall record to a respectable percentage.
New England at Toronto FC
Toronto should be motivated after last week’s blanking at home, and against a seemingly mediocre New England team the full three points are there for the taking. Toronto 2-1.
Real Salt Lake at D.C. United
One of these days RSL will get a result on the road, just not today though. First it needs to take a baby step on the road, and that would be simply scoring a goal. Perhaps the first road result will come next week at San Jose. D.C. United 3-1.
Chivas USA at Kansas City
This match could go either way. Chivas should be motivated after blowing a two-goal lead to D.C. United in the final 15 minutes last week, but at the same time Kansas City is very confident after last week’s impressive win at RSL. I’m going with the home team. Kansas City 2-1.
L.A. Galaxy at FC Dallas
The Galaxy have seven ties in nine matches this year, and I’d be foolish to be against that trend even though my gut is telling me Dallas has to win again soon. Draw 2-2.
San Jose at Houston
Houston hasn’t been spectacular this year, but there the Dynamo are hovering around within striking distance. A San Jose team that has lost all three road games this year will be no match. Houston 3-0.
Seattle at Colorado
Tonight is a big opportunity for Colorado. With a victory it will vault into a tie for second place with Seattle with a game in hand. Aren’t these the type of games Colorado usually blows. Draw 1-1.
Chicago at New York
As bad as New York as been this year, it’s still only six points out of first place in the Eastern Conference. I don’t see them making any ground this weekend though. Chicago 1-0.
Week 2 record: 0-7
Week 3 record: 4-4
Week 4 record: 1-6
Week 5 record: 3-3
Week 6 record: 5-2
Week 7 record: 2-5
Week 8 record: 2-7
Week 9 record: 2-5
Note: With three options in soccer picks, 33% would be considered average.
