Week 8 picks, Part 2

My Week 8 midweek picks didn’t go well at all with an 0-3 record. Typical, typical. When I pick a winner the game ends in a draw, when I pick a draw there’s a straight up winner. Oh well, time to make up some ground today.

Kansas City at Columbus
There’s no better example about the parity in MLS than this fact, the defending champion Columbus Crew are the only team without a win this year at 0-2-5. The drought should last another week. Draw 1-1.

Toronto FC at D.C. United
D.C. United sits atop the Eastern Conference one point clear of Toronto, so this match obviously has some big early-season implications. D.C. is 2-0-2 at home, and I expect it to remain the same today. D.C. United 2-1.

New England at Chicago
It’s time for Chicago to start winning some matches already. Seven games into the season the Fire are unbeaten, but they’ve only won two games. They should be able to get a win at home today. Chicago 3-1.

FC Dallas at Houston
The Dynamo have lost two of three home matches this year, but that shouldn’t be a problem today against their Texas rivals. Houston 2-0.

Real Salt Lake at Chivas USA
The best team in the league is licking its chops at facing a Real Salt Lake team that eliminated it from the playoffs last year. Chivas has only surrendered three goals this year, which doesn’t bode well for an RSL squad that hasn’t scored a road goal in three games. For all the reasons I shouldn’t pick RSL, I’m a gambler and can’t resist. Draw 1-1.

L.A. Galaxy at Seattle
Seattle should be well rested for the Galaxy, who are coming off their fortunate draw at Real Salt Lake on Wednesday. Rest should prevail. Seattle 2-0.

Week 2 record: 0-7
Week 3 record: 4-4
Week 4 record: 1-6
Week 5 record: 3-3
Week 6 record: 5-2
Week 7 record: 2-5
Week 8 record: 0-3 (in progress)

Note: With three options in soccer picks, 33% would be considered average.
