MLS Week 2 predictions

Like Real Salt Lake, I’m a week behind the rest of the league. So beginning this weekend I’ll be making my weekly MLS predictions. My picking skills were not that impressive last year, but I blame the players for being woefully unpredictable each week.

With that said here’s my picks for this weekend, and don’t be shy about agreeing or disagreeing and posting your own picks:

Toronto FC at Columbus
Toronto is much improved this year, but the Crew are still the defending champs and I can’t see them losing at home in this one. Crew 2-0.

Chicago at D.C. United
D.C. blew it late last weekend against the Galaxy by giving up two goals and settling for a draw. Chicago should compound that frustration with an away victory. Fire 2-1.

New England at New York
The Red Bulls were simply embarrassing last weekend. I have a feeling they’ll play with a little more pride against rival New England this weekend. Red Bulls 1-0.

Kansas City at Colorado
Both teams are coming off losses in Week 1, but Kansas City just looks like a better team than the Rapids and should bounce back on the road. Wizards 3-1.

Houston at San Jose
The Earthquakes looked bad at home against New England last week, but I’m pretty sure there will be no shortage of emotion this week when Houston comes to town. Draw 1-1.

Real Salt Lake at Seattle
RSL should put up a much better fight than New York did, but I don’t envision the Sounders losing too many games at Qwest Field this year. Draw 2-2.

Chivas USA at FC Dallas
Somebody must’ve forgot to tell Dallas’ defenders last weekend that the preseason is over. They were horrible. Expect a better effort from the home team this week. Dallas 2-1.
