A team spokesperson just confirmed that Real Salt Lake is heading to Southern California about six hours early today to find a soccer field to practice on that isn’t covered with snow. RSL was planning on practicing at Rio Tinto Stadium today and then heading out this afternoon, but mother nature didn’t cooperate. In fact, the weather hampered RSL twice this week as it was forced to relocate its Tuesday and Wednesday practice.
With the earlier flight, RSL will now be practicing in California on Thursday and Friday leading up to Saturday night’s second leg playoff game with Chivas? Obviously RSL didn’t really have a choice because of the snow, but teams in some sports often don’t fare well when they go on the road multiple days before a game. Players have routines both professionally and with their families, and sometimes when they get disrupted the results aren’t as good. Do you think this will be a problem for Real Salt Lake.
