Real Salt Lake was given the entire day off yesterday, to no doubt regroup mentally and physically after a busy week in Florida full of two-a-days. After losing to Lynn on Wednesday, it’s easy to see why the team might have needed a day off.
As surprising as Tuesday’s loss was (which in the grand scheme of things is irrelevant) it wasn’t entirely surprising based on what I saw in Tuesday morning’s practice. Many of the guys seemed to lack intensity throughout the training session, and at one point assistant coach Robin Fraser stopped practice and had some pretty stern words for the team. Kick off for the Lynn match was four hours later.
I’ve heard many people say the Lynn loss isn’t that big a deal, which is true, it is just preseason. However, what if RSL follows it up with another preseason loss to Colorado tomorrow, then what?
As for the much-hyped potential trade, I’ve been told the deal isn’t dead yet.
