RSL loses to Lynn

I’m in the Cincinnati airport en route back to Salt Lake City, and I just got off the phone with RSL general manager Garth Lagerwey. He said there’s nothing new to report regarding any possible deals in the works.

He also confirmed that surprisingly the team lost its match against Lynn University today, 2-1, with Fabian Espindola scoring the lone goal. Lagerwey said RSL played the 90-minute game like three separate 30-minute scrimmages, and he credited Lynn with playing very well.

Lagerwey admitted the loss was a backward step, but he’s hoping it leads to two steps forward down the road. The team played the game just four hours after a morning practice, and Lagerwey admits fatigue could have been an issue. Either way, he said, “it wasn’t our brightest moment.”
