Other training camp notes:

‘ RSL assistant coaches Robin Fraser and Jeff Cassar are both Florida International alums.

‘ Robbie Findley missed the match with an illness, while David Horst is away for the weekend at his brother’s wedding.

‘ Second installment of rookie comments about the first month of training camp. Tino Nunez said, “I’m just blessed with this opportunity, and I’m just trying to work really hard and make the best out of this opportunity. It’s a little faster pace, and a little more intense, so I’m just trying to get used to that. It’s been going well so far, and hopefully it keeps going that way.

‘ Garth Lagerwey had the following interesting comments about a few of his players: “You’ve got a guy like Matias Cordoba that’s really struggling with his fitness and the long flight, all that takes a couple days to get adjusted. You see the flashes you see the talent, and now you want to give them a couple days, I’d say ditto on that with Indra. You just want to see some ability, and then you’ve got to wait and give them another day and see how they come along and how they adjust to the work rate. for the most part I would say we’ve got pretty good opinions on most of our guys at this point. Salim (Bullen), this is his second week with us so now we’ve got to see him improve. he’s got some pace, he’s got some talent but he’s got to keep bringing it if he wants to take that next step.”

‘ I obviously gave Cordoba a little too much credit for his fitness following yesterday’s training session.
